About 'low fat milk'|Could Low Fat Milk be Harming Your Fertility
Egg and whey protein supplements can provide a great "pick me up" after exercise, and I tried some out that are appropriate for a low fat, low cholesterol diet. A California-based company called Jay Robb Enterprises sells a number of tasty and nutritious egg and whey protein supplements. I sampled some of their egg and whey protein supplements, and must say that I'm really impressed with the taste and the fact that many of them are good for my low fat, low cholesterol diet. More About These Products According to the website FAQ of Jay Robb Enterprises, which is very informative, their whey protein supplements do not contain sugar, MSG, glycerin, gluten, nor chemicals. And their whey protein products come from cattle not treated with recombinant bovine growth hormones (rBGH). The products consist of non-fully predigested proteins, as the philosophy of the company is that proteins should break down slowly instead of quickly for best results. The ingredient that makes these mixes taste sweet is Stevia, though according to the company's website FAQ, Stevia is classified by the FDA as a dietary supplement, and not a sweetener at this time. I Sampled Jay Robb Whey Protein Powdered Supplements Which Are Good For My Low Fat, Low Cholesterol Diet When I opened up the 30 gram pouch (about an ounce) of the no fat, no cholesterol-containing strawberry flavor, I could tell that the powder had a nice strawberry scent to it, and it was finely ground. I poured some skim milk into a Jay Robb Blender Bottle, which holds 20 ounces and contains a circular stainless steel ball that helps shake up the mix with the liquid. After I shook the contents for several seconds, I could see that it looked like an appealing milkshake! I found the taste to be really smooth and the aftertaste was of a nicely light strawberry flavor, too. The empty bottle had just a light residue, meaning that the whey protein mixed well. Other flavors for the whey protein supplements that are good for my low fat, low cholesterol diet include chocolate, vanilla, and Pina Colada, none of which contain fat nor cholesterol, making them good for my low fat, low cholesterol diet! 30 grams' worth of these whey protein supplements contain 24-25 grams of protein according to the packaging for the various flavors, of which the whey protein is cold-processed cross-flow microfiltered instead of denatured. Check this link here for the recipes you can make with the whey protein powders! You can even put this in homemade baking goodies like cheesecake and brownies besides water, milk or juice. I Sampled Egg White Protein Powdered Supplements Which Are Good For My Low Fat, Low Cholesterol Diet The egg white protein is more suited to people who are lactose intolerant since it's free of dairy/lactose ingredients. The chickens which provide their egg protein aren't given growth hormones. When I opened up the 33 gram pouch (a bit more than an ounce) of the no fat, no cholesterol-containing vanilla flavor, I saw that the powder had a nice vanilla scent to it, and it was finely ground. I poured some skim milk into the above Jay Robb Blender Bottle. After I shook the contents for several seconds, I could see that it looked like an appealing milkshake and it was very frothy at the top! I found the taste to be really smooth and the aftertaste was of a nicely light vanilla flavor, too. Just as in the case of the mixed whey protein mixture, the empty bottle had just a light residue, meaning that the egg white protein mixed well. Other flavors for the egg white protein supplements include chocolate and strawberry, none of which contain fat nor cholesterol, making them good for my low fat, low cholesterol diet! 33 grams' worth of these egg white protein supplements contain 24 grams of protein according to the packaging for the various flavors mentioned above. Prices vary by type of whey protein and egg protein products as well as the amount you order, so go the website listed in the "Resources" box to find out about the various whey protein and egg protein products offered. I Tried Jay Robb High-Protein JayBars Advertised As The "No Junk" Protein Bars I tried the 57 gram (about 2 ounces) Fudge Brownie bar after my three mile run. I must say that what I like about it is that it doesn't have that icky aftertaste you get with a lot of protein bars, for it tastes more like homemade fudge that mom used to make for me as an afterschool treat. With my low cholesterol and low fat diet, those bars even can work for me in that after a run, I can still eat half a bar at a time, and won't be consuming that much Total Fat (10 grams per bar) nor Saturated Fat (only 1 gram per bar!). It's made with whey protein and the package stresses that it doesn't contain any soy protein, gluten, glycerin, aspartame, hydrogenated oils, nor artificial sweeteners. Eating one bar gives people 14 grams of protein, and 6 grams of dietary fiber (24 per cent of Daily Value based on a 2,000 calorie diet). Other JayBar flavors include Cashew-Coconut and Peanut Butter. The price for each whey protein bar is $2.99 each, but they can be bought in protein bar boxes of 12 for for $32.29. Jay Robb's YAMMIT! Energy Nuggets Are Great For My Low Fat, Low Cholesterol Diet Since these are made of dried sweet potatoes, I expected such a taste, and wasn't disappointed. I ate some after my three mile run as is (from a 1 ounce sample packet I was sent). It's got a very mild and agreeable taste indeed! According to the product label, a 40 gram serving scoop (about 1.5 ounces) contains ½ gram of Total Fat (1 per cent of daily value based on a 2,000 calorie diet), no saturated fat nor any cholesterol, so this is good for my low fat, low cholesterol diet. The manufacturer says you can add this to yogurt, salads, and soup, too. These products are sold in 1.5 pound containers ($20.96 each) and 6 pound containers ($76.19 each). As a travel writer, I would recommend globe-trotters take these egg and whey protein products with them on their trips. These are a great alternative to the over-priced food you get from the airlines, if you get anything at all from those consumer unfriendly entities, and the protein bars are good to keep in your travel pack if you need a pick me up after a hard day of sightseeing! It's tempting even for me to get away from my low fat, low cholesterol diet when I'm away from home. Special Note: If you're concerned about taking any kind of supplements, especially in regards to how whey protein or egg protein products could interact with your medications, check with your pharmacist or doctor. In general, have an attitude of moderation when consuming any food products and supplements no matter what kind of diet you're on, including a low fat and low cholesterol one.
